Very Insightful!!
By kathleen sheehan
This book is must reading for anyone who is in the workplace today. Employees who are unlucky enough to work for a bullying supervisor or employer often are fired or forced to quit; they may face difficulty finding a new job in today's difficult economic climate. Today's difficult economic environment leaves employees more vulnerable than ever to bullying and abuse, particularly in states where they can be fired without cause. This book provides a roadmap to help workers and employers recognize bullying and respond effectively, both internally and, if that fails, in the legal system. It is lively and readable, and is chock full of fascinating cases and interesting anecdotes. The author shows that employers who ignore bullying do so at their peril. Even though there is no federal or state law against workplace bullying is at the heart of many different types of employment lawsuits that result in multimillion dollar verdicts. I have read several books on the problem of workplace bullying and abuse and Surviving Bullies, Queen Bees & Psychopaths in the Workplace is undoubtedly the best. I give it my highest recommendation.

Not a book to read if you want realistic suggestions for handling the bullying issue
By CSL
The title is somewhat misleading.
This book is written from an attorney's point-of-view and is more diagnostic in nature ... the author describes situations but does not provide realistic suggestions for how to deal with bullying on-the-job other than through legal actions or formal channels. It appears to be written from the perspective of someone who has not actually had the experiences the author describes or the experiences of working in a company and actually having dealt successfully with bullies.
Surface level data and facts are offered along with obvious examples, eg Leona Helmsley, but the book lacks practical and realistic ways to handle the day-to-day bully, especially if you want to keep your job.

A fact-filled guide to action
By Kimberly
If you think you're being bullied at work, read this book. It could help preserve your mental and physical health, your job, and maybe even your life. If you're an employer, you'd better read it, too. Workplace abuse has a high cost in sick time, needless employee turnover (a toxic boss affects more than just the target), and litigation. Author Patricia Barnes explains the difference between normal workplace conflict and abuse, providing real life examples, including documented cases of workers driven to suicide; lists of bullying behaviors; and theories as to why some people bully and other people become targets. Then she provides a step-by-step guide to documenting the pattern of abuse and dealing with it, as well as an overview of applicable state and federal law.
The author turns the spotlight that's currently directed at school bullying to workplace bullying, and it is long overdue. As she points out, no workplace is perfect. "Most jobs are, at least some of the time, will be dispiriting and unfulfilling." But no job should be soul-stomping. This book is highly recommended for its fact-filled, accessibly written, unemotional take on a little recognized social problem.
